As we all know Dave Canales has been the Head Coach and play caller in his first two seasons at the helm in Carolina. I say play caller because he has an Offensive Coordinator in Brad Idzik but Canales still calls the offensive plays.
Many fans in Panther Nation have used a classic reference to when you lose at a certain video game you have to "Give Up The Sticks" and let the next person in line have their turn. Not suggesting Canales has been flat out terrible at play calling but there have been calls by many fans for him to let someone else call the plays on offense.
At times this season the Panthers offense has looked like a well oiled machine moving the ball up and down the field. Reference the Falcons and Rams games. Also the Cowboys, Dolphins, and Cardinals games after 3 rough starts by QB Bryce Young. These games all saw the Panthers push the ball downfield with a complementary/dominant run game at times.
On the other hand reference the first Saints game and 49ers matchup where the offense had plenty of opportunities, but just couldn't get out of their own way. At times in these matchups Canales was stubborn with trying to establish a run game that was not to be.
I say this to ask Panthers fans and beyond do you think its time for Canales to "Give up The Sticks" and let his appointed OC call plays? Do you think Canales has shown enough to dismiss this idea or do you agree? Take the poll below ⬇️⬇️⬇️
