As I discussed before the Carolina Panthers have a lot of work to do to make enough cap space to be competitive in free agency this offseason.

Carolina is currently sitting at 14.4 million according to Overthecap. If Dan Morgan wants to add more talent to this roster outside of the NFL Draft he’s going to have some tough decisions ahead of him. First on the agenda is to decide who will be cut from the roster. With that I have 3 players who will save the Panthers 21 million.

Pat Jones II signed with the Panthers last offseason coming over from the Minnesota Vikings. He compiled 9 total tackles and 1 sack before being ruled out for the rest of the year with a herniated disk in his back. Known for his ability to set the edge the Panthers run defense was ranked in the top 10 in the NFL before his injury. How will his injury and his play on the field sway the Panthers in their decision to keep or cut him.

Tommy Tremble who was drafted by the Panthers in round 3 of the 2021 draft, is coming off his best season (Receiving Yards) for Carolina. If the Panthers chose to part ways with Tremble it would save the team 6 million in cap space. The Panthers have drafted tight ends in consecutive drafts so to say Tremble is a lock to return would be unwise. Has Tremble produced enough in his career to keep him from hitting the open market.

Last is starting defensive end A’Shawn Robinson. With most of his snaps this year coming in the B gaps, he ended the season with 65 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. Coming over from the NY Giants in the 2024 offseason, I feel that he has been a steady presence along the D Line. Pair that with the return of Derrick Brown after missing 16 games in 2025, he helped turn around the worst run defense in NFL history. You may ask why I have him on this list and the answer is simple. Robinson would save the Panthers 10.5 million towards the cap. Would this much in savings be too good for the Panthers to pass on or would they consider a restructure.

Cutting these 3 players would move the Panthers from 14.4 million in cap space to 35.6 million. Couple that with any restructures they might have planned and they would be in a much better poisition to attack the free agent market.

Let me know how you feel about these 3 moves and what you would do different if you were in Dan Morgans shoes. As always Panther Nation, Y’all Be Good, Be Safe and Keep Pounding Mayne!!!
